Zatara Contemporary

Liz Miller Kovaks

Liz is an interdisciplinary artist born in Los Angeles and currently living in Berlin, where she is an artist in residence at Institut für Alles Mögliche. Encompassing video, performance, photography, and installation, my work examines the relationship between commodity, globalized society, and the human condition.

Artist Statement

I explore the relationship between capitalism’s effect on the land and the body by drawing parallels between nature and the objecthood of the feminine.

My works have been shown in major art centers, galleries, and film festivals in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. I am an Alumni of the San Francisco Art Institute where I completed my MFA in New Genres. In 2014 I completed a Visual Arts Ph.D. at Sydney College of the Arts in Australia, where I was awarded both the IPRS and IPA international scholarships for the duration of my research. I am also an avid world traveler and find inspiration in the beauty of art, traditions, and hospitality across the globe.
